Our  Story

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church was organized by the Late Reverend David Alexander Pinder and built in the year of our Lord, 1929, along with a strong group of believers in God.
Reverend Pinder was a man of great vision, service and ambition. He had a strong will to work in the Master's Vineyard. Although the members made many sacrifices to purchase supplies for their new building the funds were limited. Rev. Pinder hired a sacobsto to aid in the building of the church at his own expense. He and the members completed the church , the corner stone, which a mason laid. This was the beginning of the new sanctuary of God (known today as the Fellowship Hall) Rev. Pinder served Faithfully and Diligently until the Lord called him home from his Labor of love to receive his reward in 1965.

Afterwards, Reverend Otis C. Allen was accepted as the Pastor of FMBC. He served Faithfully until his departure in August of 1971.

In 1972, Reverend Robert L. Ingram Sr. became the Senior Pastor of FMBC. God truly blessed FMBC under Rev. Ingrams Leadership.

In January of 1995, guided by the direction of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Ingrams vision, and the untiring labor of the dedicated members the new Sanctuary was birth, Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church! Praise God!!!!

God continued to add souls to the church according to his will. Under the Leadership of Pastor Ingram many different auxiliaries were added to the church such as: The Home Mission Society, Adult Usher Boards 1, 2, 3, Youth Ushers, The Voices of Friendship Choir, The Youth Choir, Adult and Youth Bible Study, The Hospitality Ministry, Friendship Substance Abuse Ministry, Women of Grace Women's Ministry, Caring Hands Ministry, the purchased of a 15 passenger van for The Transportation Ministry and the remodeling of the Fellowship Hall.

Rev. Ingram was a Faithful & Dedicated Leader of Friendship “On the beach” for more than 48 years until our Lord & Savior decided He had finished HIS race, in July 7, 2020 at the age of 86. For Rev. Ingram the battle has been fought and the Victory has been won!

As God would see fit in November of 2020, The GFMBC Family elected Rev. Timothy O. Burton, as the Senior Pastor of GFMBC “on the beach”. He served steadfastly along side of Rev. Ingram for several years at GFMBC prior to being elected as Pastor. He served during the unprecedented time of the Pandemic, COVID-19 and continues to be “Committed To Building Back Better”!
